Katie walked up the twisting steps of the tower. It was known as the secret tower, but that's only because hardly anyone ever went up here. Ever since her first year, she always came here to be alone, like when she was angry, or sad. But for some reason, stopped coming since her fourth year. Maybe she had just lost interest in the place? Whether was was true or not, she decided to come up here, just to see if anything at all had changed.
She pulled down the door in the roof and climbed on up the stairs. The first thing she saw was the back of the worn and beaten black sofa, she hadn't been up in here for so long, everything seemed all dusty and dirty. Completely different from how she remembered it. But thats probably because she used to come up here every day. She looked at the rest of the room, a few book shelves of books she never read, and more furniture, and an old and unused fireplace.

Alaina was on her way to this so called 'secret' tower. In reality it wasn't secret at all, if it would be, she was would have gotten lost, but she was still going in the right direction. She liked the place a lot, just the fact that hardly anyone was ever there made it a good place to come and think, or practice spells. So as she headed up the last few stairs and finally made it to the tower she was surprised to see that she wasn't alone.
There was another girl in the room. The girl did seem familar to her, but she didn't know her name, probably someone she had seen around the hallways or something. For now she chose to ignore the girl and grab a book from the shelf, plopping herself down on the couch, after doing a spell to remove all the dust from it.

Katie heard someone come up the stairs, she tirned around and saw, an unfamiliar face. Actually, she had seen the person around, but that was about it. She raised an eyebrow slightly, at being ignored. Instead of acknowledging that Katie was even there, the girl grabbed a book and made all the dust dissapear.
She rolled her eyes, "Hello to you too," she said walking around the room, over to the window, it was a long way down to the bottom, Katie remembered when she was bored how she would jump off here with her broom and just fly around. Yep, fun times. But then, like now, she only did that when she was bored and all her friends were busy or something.

Alaina smirked slightly at the girl's greeting and shrugged. "Hey," she said, not even snapping in the slightest, she didn't know this girl well enough, but she did know she was a Gryffindor, considering she was wearing her school robes, with the ever so infamous golden and maroon tie. This was the reasonm, why she kept her replies short, not really wanting to talk to 'the enemy', but she wasn't the type to judge someone by their house either, things were just complicated in this school.
Alaina did like the fact that there was house rivalry going on, but at the same time, she also thought that it was impossible for all gryffindor's or muggle born to be the same. But she was brought up this way, by strict rules of her parents, she didn't know any different.

Quite surprised at the girls reaction, she was expecting something ruder from a Slytherin -- but she wasn't complaining. "Why are you up here anyways?" she asked. Finding it quite odd that someone would be up here, or maybe thats just becasue whenever Katie came up here, it was deserted, unless she brought a friend with her, but that didn't happen very often.
She played with the window a bit, remembering when she crashed through there once, she decided ti would be a good idea to use muggle glue to glue the peices together, but she gave up and used Reparo instead.

Alaina was a bit taken aback when the girl continued conversation with her. She more then likely knew she was a Slytherin, so she didn't expect more than a 'hey' or maybe a few insults. "I'm just here to have some privacy, read and think," she said with a slight shrug, her eyes never leaving the book which was now opened up in her hands.
Trying to be polite to Gryffindors was a difficult task for Alaina, but she was trying her best, why? She honestly didn't know, the girl was alone, so it's not like Alaina felt threathened in any way, she was just following her instict on this instead of her mind which was nagging at her in the back of her head, telling her to throw hexes at her, or some insults. "What about you? What are you doing here?" she questioned.
