[XYLANDER ACADEMY]
Comic book fiction traditionally features characters with superhuman, supernatural, or paranormal abilities, often referred to as "superpowers". In these stories, the characters are often portrayed as either gallant, admired heroes, or feared, scorned villains. They are paranormal, not like everyone else. But I know different.
My name is Dominick McCoy. For a long time, I considered my "powers" a curse. As a child, they only got in the way for me, and ruined my life. Then, one day, I got a letter from a school called Xylander Academy. They had informed me I was accepted into their school for 'outstanding achievements'. My parents, being the socialites they were, shipped me off so I'd finally be out of their life. I thought it'd be some rich, hoity-toity school full of snobs. Well, I was wrong.
Xylander Academy had a sturdy population of 100 or so students, and somewhere twenty teachers. It was like a regular high school with a curriculum blown out of proportion. There was one thing that separated it from the other schools I had gone to. People here had powers, like me. Superpowers.
Wouldn't you know, now I'm back again, thirteen years later. Except this time around, I run the school. That's me. Headmaster McCoy. And I see lots of things. Students who love their powers and use them for good, those who abuse them on power-trips. Students who hate their powers. Sometimes, it seems as if the fate of the world is in their hands. Others, it just seems that they're dramatic teenagers--just like everyone else. Insecure. Scared. Ashamed. But what they choose to do with their powers -- for good, or for evil -- is their decision only.
This is our story. This is X Academy. This is Mutant High.
